On the morning of Saturday, July 14th, Alexandria’s family-friendly guided walking tour, Taking It 2 The Street, will be captured on video to create a ‘Weekend Drive’ segment for KALB News Channel 5. Weekend Drive host, Mark Klein, meteorologist Dorrell Wenninger and several others from the KALB staff have been involved with the all-volunteer event since its premiere in August of last year. The Weekend Drive segment shows viewers fascinating places and points of interest located within an easy drive of Central Louisiana and airs on Thursday mornings during Jambalaya and KALB Midday, as well as during the Saturday edition of the Today Show.
Alexandria’s delightful walking tour, now entering its second season, is first-class family entertainment. You’ll be guided by local celebrities on a healthy, informative and entertaining stroll around our downtown’s beautiful cultural district. Street performers make the tour even more fun, with 14 different acts on 14 different street corners on the 14th of July!
Taking It 2 The Street is an all-volunteer event proudly supported by Capital One Bank. Everybody who participates donates their time and talent so that you and your family can enjoy the show absolutely free! Come see it once and you’ll be back!
We meet the Second Saturday morning of every month at the Alexandria Museum of Art’s Second Saturday Vendor’s Market at 933 Main St. in Alexandria. The tour departs at 10:00am and returns to the museum before noon.
