Christus Cabrini Women’s Life Center To Offer Free Mammograms

360

Christus Cabrini Women’s Life Center recently received a grant from the proceeds of the Alexandria Race For The Cure to provide education and free mammography screenings to residents of Central Louisiana.  “The money from this grant has given us the opportunity to not only provide breast health education,” said Diane Kitts, Supervisor, Christus Cabrini Women’s Life Center, “but also mammograms for uninsured and underinsured residents of Central Louisiana.”

The screenings are available to residents of Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Rapides and Vernon parishes and are at no charge for those who qualify. To qualify, you must be uninsured or underinsured and referred to the Christus Cabrini Women’s Center by your primary care provider.  Women ages 40 to 60 who do not have health insurance qualify for a screening and diagnostic mammogram. Anyone wanting to have a mammogram needs to see her primary health care provider and be referred to Christus Cabrini Women’s Center for an appointment. Once the referral is made, an appointment will be made.

Christus Cabrini Women’s Life Center To Offer Free MammogramsWhile at the Women’s Life Center, a five minute video will be shown on how to do self-exams and provide information on breast health.  With the funding from the Komen race, it is estimated that the grant will be able to service 170 underserved people in Central Louisiana.
