LBM Productions Presents Two Summer Musicals
Laine Berry Miller

Summer is a great time to escape the mundane and ordinary, and LBM Productions presents opportunities for audiences to do just that!

Narnia the Musical tells the story of four siblings who travel through a wardrobe and find themselves in a magical land, where they encounter an evil White Witch, talking animal-like creatures, and a magnificent Lion who comes to their aide. The performances of this classic tale will be at the Richard Gwartney Theatre on the LSUA campus Saturday, July 22nd at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Tickets are $10.00 General Admission and $5.00 for ages 12 and under. The show will be presented by the award-winning Junior Campers of our Summer Musical Theater Intensive Workshop.

Legally Blonde, the Broadway Musical, is LBM Productions’ annual fall show. In order to include college students who may be heading off to school in September, we have moved our “fall production” forward to the first weekend in August!  Auditions for Legally Blonde will be held Friday, July 14th, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm and Saturday, July 15th, from 10:00am until 1:00pm at the Alexandria Mall in the former The Limited space, across from the stage and food court area. Auditions are open to the public, ages high school through adults. We also need two dogs!

This action-packed musical explodes on the stage with memorable songs and dynamic dances. The story involves a wide range of characters, including Malibu sorority and fraternity kids, Harvard law school students and professors, parents, a marching band and cheerleaders, a work-out guru and her friends in prison, a hair dresser, a pool-boy, a female judge and full courtroom, and even a UPS delivery man who all have one thing in common: Elle Woods, the determined blonde who energetically pursues her dream for true love. A full list of characters, further audition information, and an Audition Form are online at www.LBMproductions.net.

Those who audition should prepare a one-minute contemporary song. Bring sheet music in your key, with edits clearly marked. Songs from the show are fine. Come prepared to dance and do cold readings. Keep in mind that the large cast includes something for everyone: non-singing roles through “triple threats”. Those auditioning for non-singing roles are not required to sing!

Don’t miss LBM Productions’ incredible musical extravaganza, Legally Blonde the Musical, to be presented August 4th and 5th at 8:00pm at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in downtown Alexandria, complete with live musicians, a talented cast, and incredible sets, lighting and costumes. Get ready for an action-packed evening of totally awesome entertainment, sponsored in part by Miller Physical Therapy. Tickets: Delta Nu Section $20.00 (reserved first 5 rows center), Reserved $15.00 (orchestra section), and $10.00 general admission (mezzanine). Rated PG-13.
