The Arts Council of Central Louisiana is pleased to present Grammy Award-winning artist Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 27th at 7:30pm. Ticket prices are $25.00 for adults, $18.00 for senior citizens, and $12.00 for students.
For more than 20 years ,Terrance Simien, an eighth generation Louisiana Creole, has been shattering myths about what his indigenous Creole Zydeco music is and is not. Leading his Zydeco Experience Band, Simien has become one of the most respected and internationally recognized artists in roots music today. Claimed by the Boston Patriot Ledger as “one of the most exciting Zydeco performers in America,” Terrance Simien takes the audience on a multi-cultural tour blending influences from across the globe. He also helped change his genre by introducing complex vocal harmonies, diverse repertoire and carefully crafted high quality recordings.
In 2005, they became the first Zydeco group to perform in Cuba for the U.S. State Department, and in 2006, Carnegie Hall presented them in Mali, West Africa as part of their Global Encounters Program. Terrance Simien has performed over 5,000 concerts, toured millions of miles, and reached at least a million people in his eventful career.
