ADCSMermaidLogo The Little Mermaid is back! By popular demand, Alexandria Country Day School is presenting Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. once again! Join Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian and all their friends as they return live, July 18th through 20th, at Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in downtown Alexandria!

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is the story of Ariel on a journey from “Under the Sea” to become “Part of Your World.” This official Disney version includes all the wonderful songs and characters from the movie produced live onstage with stunning sets and colorful costumes sure to amaze! The backdrop was inspired by Broadway’s award-winning production, Peter and the Starcatcher. It provides amazing visual effects when combined with Kendall From’s meticulous lighting, bringing the audience from floating on top of the ocean to diving to its greatest depths.

“This show has been quite a journey for us,” says director Laine Berry Miller. “We started rehearsals last November with Alexandria Country Day School’s elite drama troupe, Tiger Entertainment. This group performed in Atlanta at the national Junior Theater Festival.”  The Junior Theater Festival opened a door for Claire Marie Miller, who plays “Ariel” in the ACDS production. She was chosen to perform in June in New York City on the Broadway Junior & Tams-Witmark Choreography DVD’s for “Legally Blonde,” “Once on This Island,” and “Bye, Bye Birdie,” produced by iTheatrics.

After a hugely successful production of Little Mermaid last March, Mrs. Miller decided to have a two-week summer camp and put the show back together for summer day cares and camps, and also for the general public. “Some students who were in the March production were unavailable this summer, so this allowed other student actors from the camp to play leading and supporting roles, including Will Passman as Sebastian and Celeste Cavell Scuttle. This is really exciting, and mixes things up a bit!” explains Mrs. Miller.

Claire Marie Miller is returning from New York City just in time to reprise her role as Ariel. Hunter Andries will be rushing back from Oklahoma City University’s prestigious Summer Musical Theater Camp in the role of King Triton.  Christian Salazar as Flounder, Will Passman as Flounder, and Chandler Higgins as Prince Eric are all scurrying back from camps to be a part of this “reunion-with-a-twist” production.
