The Arts Council of Central Louisiana is proud to announce the next edition of A-Town Jazz, which will be held in the lobby of the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center on Friday, October 28th, featuring entertainment by Bobby Rhodes and The Ministry of Jazz with special guests.

A diverse jazz guitarist, composer, producer and vocalist, Bobby Rhodes can be described as possessing the up tempo flair of Joe Pass, of playing the octaves of Wes Montgomery and blend it all together with the versatility of George Benson.  Bobby Rhodes became interested in music at the age of twelve and was self taught to play the guitar. Note for note, he learned the songs of great jazz guitarists. Eventually, his own unique style of playing emerged. Later in life, Bobby shared his vision with another professional musician, Dexter Compton, a jazz pianist. In 2003, they decided to collaborate their talented gifts together as The Ministry of Jazz. Together, they have performed many concerts throughout the State of Louisiana and beyond. The Ministry of Jazz features: Bobby Rhodes, guitarist; Dexter Compton, pianist; accompanied by two professional established musicians, Gerald Smith on bass and Dwayne Frederic on drums.

A-Town Jazz is presented by the Arts Council of Central Louisiana and underwritten by Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.  Tickets are $25.00 and will be available at the door, or in advance by calling the Arts Council at (318) 443-4718. Admission covers entertainment, as well as light hors d’oeuvres. Wine, beer and soft drinks will be available to purchase from the cash bar. Doors open at 6:00pm, with entertainment from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
