A Night of Hope Gala 2010The American Cancer Society’s A Night of Hope Gala will bring back the nostalgia of the American Bandstand right here in Cenla, all to benefit a great cause!  The American Cancer Society will host A Night of Hope Gala in Alexandria on Saturday, August 7th from 7:00pm until Midnight at Convention Hall in Downtown Alexandria.  The event will feature entertainment provided by The Dots, who will showcase music from the 50s and 60s, food straight out of June Cleaver’s kitchen, and two fabulous auctions–one silent and one live!

As a very special part of our A Night of Hope Gala this year, we are incorporating an opportunity to honor our loved ones by presenting a slideshow of photographs during Gala.  We are calling this slideshow “Images of Hope.”  We would like to include photographs of loved ones who are surviving cancer, as well as photographs of those loved ones we have lost due to cancer.  The slideshow will scroll continuously throughout the night on one of the screens in Convention Hall.

Diamond Sponsors for this year’s Gala are Hematology and Oncology Life Center and Cenla Focus. Platinum Sponsors are Central Louisiana Home Health Care, Noles-Frye Realty and Dr. and Mrs. John Giroir.  Our area’s two main hospitals—Christus St. Frances Cabrini and Rapides Regional Medical Center—serve as the event’s Gold Sponsors, while CLECO serves as the bronze sponsor.

Tickets for the gala event are $100 for individuls, while Patron Party Tickets, which include admission to both the exclusive Patron Party and the Gala, are $300 per couple.  In addition to individual ticket opportunities, a limited number of corporate sponsorships are still available.  For more information on ticket or sponsorship opportunities, please contact the Event Chair, Karen Giroir at (318) 613-1005 or by email at [email protected], or the Event Co-Chair, Helen Strickland at (318) 787-4999 or by email at [email protected].

A Night of Hope Gala 2010The American Cancer Society has worked hard over the last year helping people all over Cenla in their fight to beat cancer.  Over 700 local cancer patients were served in all.  From gift items given to cancer patients including wigs, breast prosthesis, and bras, to cancer patients receiving support through the Reach to Recovery program, ACS works tirelessly to aid those in need.  Over 40 patients were given in excess of $1,300 in gas cards to help with the transportation cost cancer patients incur.  Thirty-two patients traveling from out of town for treatment received lodging through the local American Cancer Society Hotel/Motel program for a total of 138 room nights, and 17 cancer patients spent a total of 571 nights at an American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.  Fifty-one women regained confidence and re-expressed their own beauty when they participated in the Look Good…Feel Better program.  All these programs were provided at no cost to the patients because of funds raised by thoughtful individuals like you.
