Capital One Bank: Making a Lasting Impact in the Local CommunityCapital One Bank recognizes that helping to build strong and healthy communities—good places to work, good places to do business and good places to raise families—benefits everyone.  As a local bank, Capital One is deeply committed to investing in Louisiana to help local communities grow and thrive. Over the years, Capital One and its associates have generously supported the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. “Assisting the Food bank is one of the many ways we give back to the community,” says Nancy Stich, Alexandria Market President for Capital One Bank.

Capital One Bank: Making a Lasting Impact in the Local CommunityAs part of “One Week,” Capital One’s national community service initiative held in April, more than 60 Capital One bankers in Central Louisiana helped pack boxes for the Food Bank’s Adopt-A-Senior program, which provides food to approximately 2,500 local seniors in need.  And now, Capital One is proud to support a Food Bank program that helps many of the area’s younger citizens. The “Backpack Program” is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available. Donations to the program are used to fill backpacks with healthy food, and local children at risk of going hungry receive the backpacks.

Capital One Bank: Making a Lasting Impact in the Local CommunityAs part of the Backpack Program, all of Capital One’s ten Central Louisiana branches are currently accepting donations of cash or checks to go toward the purchase of backpacks. Donations of new or used backpacks are also being accepted. While the banks are not currently accepting food donations for the program, you can always make your donation of food at the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. This vital program distributes more than 630 backpacks a week to needy children at 11 Central Louisiana schools.

Cash, check and backpack donations are being accepted July 8th through July 30th across Cenla. “Anyone can donate, and it can mean the difference between a child going hungry and coming to school hungry to learn,” explains Stich. “Capital One Bank’s associates are excited to support the Backpack Program. Our culture encourages a strong commitment among associates to community service and volunteerism, and a belief that change happens one person at a time.”
