Tours de ForceThe St. James Episcopal Church Concert Series continues the 2012-2013 Series with a concert entitled, Tours de Force.  Virtuoso works on the concert will center on the 20th century French composer, Francis Poulenc. Guest organist Matthew Dirst will join Rapides Symphony Orchestra music director Joshua Zona and RSO string players in Poulenc’s masterpiece Concerto in g minor for Organ, Strings and Timpani. In recognition of the beginning of the holiday season, Mr. Dirst will perform Variations Sur Un Noël by the great French organist, Marcel Dupré, who was a contemporary of Poulenc. Eight Dallas professional singers will perform Poulenc’s stunning a capella Quatre Motets Pour Le Temps de Noël.

 

This concert will be presented at St. James Episcopal Church, located at 1620 Murray Street and Bolton Avenue in Alexandria on Monday, November 26th at 7:00pm. Through a generous grant from The McCormick-Smith Fund, Inc., admission to this concert is free and open to the public.
