While there, feel free to tour the studios at River Oaks, a contemporary arts center, home to many renowned regional and local artists. The building is a beautiful example of Queen Anne Revival architecture showcasing fifteen-foot ceilings, oak paneling, an extravagant use of windows, and an expansive curved front veranda supported by Ionic columns.
Proceeds from the Holiday High Tea support the work of the Shepherd Center, an ecumenical based, non-profit organization that targets working families who suffer a temporary setback, such as a sudden illness or an accident, or the loss of their home through fire or other casualty. Often, these families have nowhere else to turn. We operate a food pantry; provide rental and utility assistance, vouchers for clothing, and furniture. We also sponsor “Christmas Cheer”, a program that matches families in need with sponsors who provide gifts for kids and food for a holiday meal.
