The Angel

Once upon a time in heaven, there was an angel. One day, God came to the angel and said, “I have a job for you. I’m going to send you to Earth, but only for a little while.  I will send you to a loving family with good values and morals.” As she grew up in the loving home, God came to her and said, “I want you to grow up to be a woman of Faith.  When others meet you, they will have no doubt of your love for me.” And, she did.

As the Angel grew into a young woman, God said to her, “I will give you a husband and I want you to love him unconditionally until death do you part. Your bond will be so strong that it can never be broken. “ And, she did.

A few years passed, and God said, “I want you to bear children and raise them in a loving home and teach them about me. Teach them to be kind, respectful, and compassionate. Teach them the importance of giving of one’s self to those that are in need.”   And, she did.

Then God said, “I will lead you to a career where you will care for the sick. I want you to give them all you have, your whole heart. I want you to laugh with them, cry with them, comfort them and ease their apprehensions.” And again, she did. God was pleased with His angel.

Then, He told her, “You will be a light. You will bring about change and awareness. You will advocate, and you will teach. You will touch lives that you don’t even realize you have touched. For when others look on you, they will see how special you are. And they will be filled with a sense of peace while in your presence.” And, she was.

Then one day, God came to the Angel and said in a gentle voice, “You have done all that I have asked you to do and I am proud. Now it’s time to come home.” The Angel didn’t understand, there was so much left to do, so many lives yet to be touched. She wasn’t ready to go. And God said, “I will give you time to say your goodbyes.” And, He did.

Angie Roberts 2After a time, the day arrived when He wrapped her in his loving, protective arms and carried her home. The Angel was concerned about her family and friends, for they were sad. And God said, “Have I not done all that I said I would do?  Do not fear for your family and friends, for I will walk with them and comfort them and they will know where you have gone. In time, they will feel a peace come over them and they will look forward to the day they can join you again. Meanwhile, be near them and they will feel you. Comfort them as you did while you were there, and they will know you are near. Know their prayers, walk with them and guide them. Your presence will never leave as long as there is one that remembers and holds tight to your memory. You have done well my angel. It’s time to rest now.”
