With Mardi Gras, Black History Month at the Movies, and our Scholarship Fishing Tournament, we have lots going on at LSUA!  Mark your calendars and make plans to attend!

Black History Month Mondays at the Movies feature free movie, popcorn and dinner every Monday in February, beginning February 4th in Brumfield Caffey Annex at 6:30pm.  There is no movie on the 11th due to Mardi Gras.  This event is sponsored by LSUA Multicultural Committee, the Student Government Association, and the Arna-Bontemps African American Home and Museum.  This year’s featured movies are Spike Lee’s School Daze, and two silent movies:  Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the first Uncle Tom movie to have a Black man play Uncle Tom, and Scar of Shame—both made in 1927.  Please check our campus calendar at www.lsua.edu for additional information.

LSUA Mardi Gras Parade will roll Wednesday, February 6th at noon on campus. The parade promises to be a family-friendly event for all to enjoy!

The Jerry Myrick Plaza Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting will be held on Thursday, February 28th at 10:00am at Jerry Myrick Plaza. Join us for the official grand opening and dedication of the Jerry Myrick Plaza (MPAC Building) on the grounds of LSUA.

The 3rd Annual LSUA/ALBC Scholarship Fishing Tournament will take place on Saturday, March 9th from 6:00am to 3:00pm on Red River at the Colfax Landing.  The event helps raise scholarship dollars for deserving students!  Call Larry Williams at (318) 473-6540 or email him at [email protected] for more information.

The Citywide Civic Luncheon on Tuesday March 19th is an opportunity for your civic organization to attend the annual gathering of all our local civic clubs.  This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for all groups!  Our special guest speaker will be Dr. Williams Jenkins from the LSU System.  Have your civic club president call Mary B. McCampbell for group reservations.  Reservations are required as there is limited seating.  Call (318) 619-2917 for more information.
