The literary fun will continue on Saturday, November 18th with a variety of literary workshops and activities for all ages at the Westside Library, located at 5416 Provine Place in Alexandria. Workshops will be hosted by poets, storytellers, and authors including Curt Iles, Shelley Jinks Johnson, Ashley Weaver, and Dr. David Holcombe. Workshop topics will include fantasy writing, flash fiction creation, series writing, and more. Children’s stories, crafts and activities with special guests Rosa Metoyer and M.L. Tarpley are slated for Saturday as well as workshops and activities for teens such as an anime discussion and featured poetry workshop with Sherry Gentle from Ignite the Mic Alexandria.
Other features of the festival include an author and artist alley with the Rapides Parish Library’s 2022 and 2023 Cenla Authors and Artists of the Month, community resources, food trucks, free books, crafts, and a cooking demonstration with Anita Sanders of Dat New Orleans Taste. The Ripple on the Red is a registered National Novel Writing Month site, so all attendees are invited to participate in this celebration of the creative process by listening, learning, exploring, and/or putting pen to paper.
