What is success? A 2nd annual AlexRiverFete, and it’s coming May 8th through 10th.  AlexRiverFête celebrates culture, community and collaboration.  Last year, the city introduced this new festival that celebrates the arts, culture and heritage of Central Louisiana while bringing together popular events that have been a community staple for years.

Come celebrate with us in Downtown Alexandria on the banks of the iconic Red River as we enjoy Dinner on the Bricks, ArtWalk , the Louisiana Dragon Boat Races and other activities that we have now woven together to create the fabric that is AlexRiverFete, including live music featuring Robin Barnes, Earphunk and The Revivalists, and other local musicians, a Beer Garden, Classic CarFete, a barbecue cookoff, KidsFete and FarmFete.

ClassicCarFete and FarmFete are new components added this year. FarmFete will feature vendors selling fresh produce and other fresh product
s and is made possible by Inglewood Farms and CLEDA’s Fresh Food Initiative.

AlexRiverFete is growing to embody the spirit of this community—one of collaboration and cooperation. The City is partnering with many local arts organizations, businesses and other groups to celebrate local culture, food and creativity.  Visitors will find diverse programming, colorful street performers, vibrant craft displays, children’s activities, ongoing live entertainment, delicious food and much more. With so much to see and do, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the Fête.

This festival is made possible through the talent and dedication of our local community partners: The Arts Council of Central Louisiana, Alexandria Museum of Art, River Oaks Square Arts Center, Tipitina’s, the Young Professionals Group, the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, and the T.R.E.E. House Children’s Museum. In addition, there are a variety of local businesses, private stakeholders, sponsors, participants, teams, volunteers and civic leaders all working together to honor Central Louisiana’s unique culture and heritage. With all this community involvement, AlexRiverFête promises once again to be an unforgettable experience.

AlexRiverFeteLogoA festival of this magnitude means a stronger city. It promotes synergy, builds new relationships and fosters new ideas. And, most of all, it lays the foundation of a better Alexandria. It’s just another way we’re continuing to shape our city as an ideal place to live, work and play…and it’s only getting better!
