We are pulling out all the stops for the Rapides Symphony’s 50th Season this year!  It all starts with our annual September 24th Pops on the River concert.  For this concert, entitled “Celebrating the American Spirit”, we are going to pack as much into one patriotic celebration as possible–favorite American songs, a salute to our armed forces, Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait”, a sing-along, cannons, and of course, fireworks.  To help us celebrate, we have KALB-TV’s Sherman Desselle to bring Lincoln’s immortal words to life, vocalist Quiana Lynell to perform American tunes by Gershwin and more, and the Red River Chorale to make our concert finale even more special!

After a few years of doing this annual concert indoors, we are back on the Red River at the Alexandria Riverfront Amphitheater at 7:30pm on Saturday, September 24th.   Everyone is welcome to bring their own food and drink, but if you don’t want to carry all of that stuff to the concert, food and drink vendors will be on site to meet all of your needs.
The concert is free and open to all on the amphitheater steps and grounds, but if you would like to have the comfort of table seating, please call the Symphony office at (318) 442-9709.   Tables of 10 for your friends, clients, or coworkers are $350 each.
