November 2: Glass Fusing with Doug Stannard, Alexandria Museum of Art, 10a.m.-Noon. Create your own glass art by stacking or layering thin sheets of glass in different colors to create patterns or simple images in this glass fusing workshop led by glass artist Doug Stannard. Participants will each design and form a glass lightcatcher and a jewelry piece during the class, which will then be fired in a kiln for participants to pick up later. It helps them understand where mom is when the baby is being born and lets them know how important it is to become a big brother or sister. The ideal age for this class is 3-10. October 5: Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis Walk, Alexandria Senior High, 9:00am. The 2013 goal of Great Strides, the largest CF fundraiser, is to raise nearly $42 million through 600 national walks.
