Joint’s Jumpin’: The New Orleans Musical will bring the music of the Crescent City to Alexandria’s Coughlin-Saunder’s Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 25th. Joint’s Jumpin’ is a celebration of the classic New Orleans rhythm and blues songs and styles that have influenced R&B hit makers for over half a century. This hip-swaying, soul-stirring music captures the smokey sass and brass of a French Quarter nightclub performance back in the heyday of New Orleans live music.

This fabulous show will knock your socks off and you’ll be “Barefootin’,” Strollin’ and second-lining to the music which showcases nearly three dozen R&B/R&R milestone hits that dominated the Billboard Rhythm & Blues charts and helped define the music world of half a century ago.

This remarkable group of performers reaches across ethnic, racial, and age barriers to engage audiences in the powerful traditions of New Orleans Rhythm and Blues. Band members have performed with world-renowned artists such as Etta James, Bad Company, Aaron Neville, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello, Smokey Robinson and many more.

Joint’s Jumpin’ will perform at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 25th at 7:00pm. Tickets are $22.00 for adults, $15.00 for seniors, and $10.00 for students. Special group rates are available.  Patrons who purchase a season ticket to the Arts Council’s 2010-2011 Performing Arts Series will receive V.I.P seating privileges.

The performance is being presented by the Arts Council of Central Louisiana with sponsorship provided by the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority (GAEDA) and is supported by a grant from the Louisiana State Arts Council through the Louisiana Division of the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.  Other major supporters of the Arts Council of Central Louisiana include the City of Alexandria and the Coughlin-Saunders Foundation.
