On Saturday, December 4th, Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare will host an event dedicated to humor. It is open to the public and will help everyone de-stress and laugh at everyday situations. The event will begin at 7:30pm at Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center and will feature Florida-based comedian, David Glickman. David specializes in medical humor and has spoken all over North America at Medical and Business Conferences in addition to enjoying a career as a comedian and author.
David’s unique brand of humor features parody songs on themes that he sings and plays with a portable keyboard strapped around his neck. Also included at the event is an art show highlighting local artists presenting original art on the theme of medical humor. All art will be available for purchase. And, we will have raffle tickets available for two round-trip tickets from American Airlines to anywhere within the contiguous 48 states, Canada and Mexico. The winner of this raffle will be announced at our 5th Annual Doctors’ Day Follies event on March 26, 2011.
We are also pleased to announce that this activity, A Dose of Healthcare Humor, with a beginning date of December 4th, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 2.00 Elective credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Patrons tickets are $50.00 and include a pre-show reception with Mr. Glickman. Food, wine, beer and soft drinks will be served. Our reception sponsors are Portabella, Dominos Pizza, Little Cakes with Big Attitudes, Hokus Pokus Liquors and Coca-Cola. General admission tickets for the show only are $25.00. Tickets may be purchased on line at www.artsandhealthcare.org or by calling and leaving a message at (318) 769-7602. Major sponsors of this event are Regency House, Samuel R. Dunbar, The Town Talk, Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Rapides Regional Medical Center, Hancock Bank, Losavio Law Office, LLC and Paragon Casino Resort.
This event is a benefit for Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare and will be the culminating event celebrating November, 2010 as National Arts & Health Month in Central Louisiana. Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare was founded in 2003 with the mission of bringing innovative arts experiences into healthcare settings. All proceeds from this event will help us to continue programming at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, OSMS, Cabrini Cancer Center, Friendship House and many other healthcare venues in our area.
