Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame 2011 Induction CelebrationThe Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame will host its 2011 Induction Celebration from Thursday, June 23rd through Saturday, June 25th in Natchitoches.  The festivities will begin with a press conference in the upstairs banquet room of The Landing Restaurant at 3:30pm, followed immediately by the La Capitol FCU Hall of Fame Kickoff reception beginning at 5:00pm.  The celebration continues Friday with the Legends Huddle with the Kids at the Natchitoches Boys & Girls Club.  Friday afternoon will include the Hall of Fame Pro-Am Golf Scramble at OakWing Golf Club in Alexandria.  The day’s activities will conclude with a reception at the Best Western Conference Center in Alexandria. 

Championship Saturday kicks off with activities for kids ages 8 – 18.  Limited to the first 100 registrants, this program will teach young athletes how to become champions.  Youth and parents are invited to see and hear what it takes to be “champions on and off the field”.  Learn from Louisiana’s greatest athletes, coaches and other experts, as they provide tips on sports, strength training, academics and nutrition.  Presenters include Todd Walker, Don Shows, Vaughan Johnson, Morten Andersen, Buford Jordan, “Slick” Watts, Kayla Hall and more!  All attendees must wear gym sneakers and don’t forget to bring a camera!  Cost for registration is just $10.00.  Visit www.lasportshall.com for more information.

The 201 Induction Celebration will culminate on Saturday evening at the Natchitoches Events Center with a silent auction beginning at 5:00pm and the Walk of Legends which will begin the inaugural Induction Ceremony at 6:00pm.  The seated dinner for an expected crowd of over 600 honors the state’s top athletes, coaches, sports leaders and journalists and continues to sell out, making it one of the highest  attended hall of fame inductions in the nation.  “As the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation (LSHOFF) broadens its support beyond the annual induction to supporting the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Museum, which is currently under construction in Natchitoches, partners like Chesapeake Energy are critical to the success of the LSHOFF,” shared Lisa Babin, President and CEO of the LSHOFF.
