Kaminari Taiko of Houston Returns to CenlaAlexandria demanded it; therefore the Arts Council of Central Lousiana asked the thundering drums of the Kaminari Taiko to return for an encore performance. Combining rhythm, theatre and dance, taiko drumming is an important Japenese tradition. Kaminari combines the values of this magnificent art with the rhythms and beats of the world for an unforgettable performance.

 

Taiko drums were originally used on Japanese battlefields more than 1,400 years ago to strike fear into the hearts of the enemy. Over the next millennium, taiko drumming transcended to the art form it is today. Combining rhythm, theatre, and dance, taiko drumming is an important Japanese tradition. Using twelve (12) drums, Kaminari combines the values of this magnificent art with the rhythms and beats of the world for an unforgettable performance.

 

Kaminari Taiko of Houston Returns to CenlaKaminari Taiko will take the stage at the Alexandria Riverfront Center on Saturday, May 12th at 12:00pm as part of the 2012 Louisiana Dragon Boat Races.  This spectacular concert event is free and open to the public!
