Holiday Light Safari to Feature Taylor Mathews

Holiday Light Safari to Feature Taylor MathewsTaylor Mathews will be making a special appearance at the Alexandria Zoo during Holiday Light Safari.  Taylor has a special connection with the zoo because of his grandfather, former city commissioner O’Hearn Mathews.   When the Zoo was threatened with closure by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the early 1970’s, City Commissioner Mathews appointed the first zoo committee of concerned citizens to study the problems and make recommendations for improvements.  The committee evolved into Friends of the Alexandria Zoo (FOTAZ), which has become a very strong support arm for the zoo.

On Thursday, December 15th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, Taylor will present a special evening of caroling at the new Festival Plaza were guests can join in the holiday spirit and warm up by the bonfire.
