Grease is The Word at ASH

Grease is The Word at ASHThe students at Alexandria Senior High have been working hard since school started to bring the musical Grease to the stage. Grease: School Version is an adaptation that is appropriate for all ages. All of your favorite characters and music come to life in the halls of Rydell High.

The entire school has contributed to this musical event. Without a drama department, Jan Schmitt, who is a teacher at ASH and is directing the musical, has tapped into ASH’s very experienced choral department to cast the show. Choir teacher Hollie Colvin has spent endless hours working with her choir students to get them ready. Scott Davis, who teaches a construction class, has had his students building a raised stage that will transform ASH’s auditorium into the halls of Rydell High. Davi Scarbrock and Katy Andries are keeping their art classes busy painting sets and props. Ashley Liotta agreed to take on the task of designing and making the costumes for the play, while giving her family and consumer science students plenty of experience.

“This really is a school-wide effort,” Schmitt said. “Without the endless contributions from the entire faculty and student body, this would not have been possible. Of course, it also helps to have a supportive administration and some incredibly talented students.”

Matinee and evening performance will be held November 5th – 7th. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the school office or at the door. Admission is just $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults. Contact the school at (318) 448-8206 for more information.
