Ongoing-February 16: Hari & Deepti “Light by the Forest”, Alexandria Museum of Art.  AMoA officially connects its galleries to its luminary endeavors through this exhibition of internationally renowned husband-and-wife artists Hari and Deepti, who create cut paper shadow boxes which tell stories. Hari & Deepti will travel from India to Alexandria as artists in residence at AMoA. Their works delve into fantastic and imaginative subjects, exploring fairy tales and more with intricate designs and lights. Ongoing-February: New Hope Al-Anon Group, Horseshoe Drive Methodist Church in Alexandria, 7:00pm.  The New Hope Al-Anon Group meets each Tuesday and Thursday evening. March 2: Mardi Gras Party, Alexandria Zoo, 2:00pm-4:00pm. The animals are askin’ for you at Alexandria Zoo! Don your purple, green and gold and parade over to the Zoo for the Mardi Gras Party. Sink your teeth into a delicious slice of Atwood’s Bakery king cake, mambo to live music, and visit with costume characters. March 3: AMGA Mardi Gras Krewes Parade, 2:00pm. The 20119 AMGA Krewes Parade will roll down Texas Avenue to Masonic, Memorial, North Boulevard, ending at the Alexandria Mall. Military Veteran and Alcohol/Tobacco-Free Parade viewing areas will be available. Cost: Free.

March 4: Bereaved Parents Support Group BPUSA, Cabrini Mediplex Serenity Room, 6:00pm-7:00pm. This is an on-going support group for parents and grandparents whose child has died. Bereaved Parents Support Group has trained outreach volunteers who are available to the newly grieving parent, grandparent or adult sibling. This group is sponsored by CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital and meets on the first Monday of every month. Pre-registration is required. March 6: Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers, Hearn Stage at Kress Theatre, 7:00pm. “Bathtubs Over Broadway” follows Steve Young on his quest to uncover all he can about the hidden world of corporate musicals. While delving into treasure troves of forgotten archives, tracking down rare albums, unearthing unseen footage, and rediscovering composers and performers, Steve comes to form unlikely friendships and discovers how this discarded musical genre starring tractors and bathtubs was bigger than Broadway. February 9, 16, 23 & March 2: Saturday Morning Qi Gong, Alexandria Museum of Art, 10:30am. The Alexandria Museum of Art and Rapides Regional Medical Center have partnered to present Healthy Living @AMoA. Paul Nettles of The Levee Tai Chi School leads a class in Qi Gong, which is an ancient system of coordinated body postures and movements combined with deep breathing and meditation.
