Several months ago, I wrote an article about an upcoming show at the LSUA University Gallery. “Every Man A King, But No One Wears A Crown” will open at the Gallery on September 17th, which coincides with Government Day at LSUA. We will host an opening reception from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Guest speakers for the opening will be Mr. Dale Genius, Director of the Alexandria Historical Museum, and Dr. Jerry Sanson, Professor of History at LSUA.
“Every Man A King…” will feature the life and legacy of Huey P. Long. Governor Long was assassinated on September 10, 1935. So, we commemorate the 75th anniversary of this event. Like so many Louisiana legends, Long’s memory lives on and there are still stories to tell of Kingfish and his brand of politics!
The reception is free and open to the public. We invite you to join us at 11:00am on September 17th as we celebrate Government Day and the life and times of Huey P. Long. The University Gallery is located in the Brumfield-Caffey Student Union. After the opening, Gallery hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00am. until 12:00noon. For more information, please call (318) 473-6449.
