Hixson Ford and Southern Heritage Bank presents The 2017 Central Louisiana Delta Waterfowl Banquet on September 21st at the Alexandria Riverfront Center. Doors open at 5:30pm and World Champion Duck Caller Jim Ronquest hosts a family-oriented duck calling seminar at 6:00pm.
Jim Ronquest is the Co-Host and Producer of RNT-V and the World Champion Duck Caller. He joins the Delta Waterfowl Banquet to share stories of the tradition of pursuing waterfowl and to inform guests about the importance of conservation as he tells his experiences of duck hunting. Ronquest is a highly revered member of the duck hunting community and his quick wit and southern charm prove to be a huge draw from sportsmen around the state. He has been calling competitively since the age of 14 and is a professional guide and extreme duck hunting expert. “Duck hunting is more than shooting ducks,” Ronquest says. “It’s the smell of an outboard warming up in the cold pre-dawn, and the feel of a trusted shotgun. It’s the sight of a flock of mallards breaking high out of a winters blue sky to the sound of a well tuned call, the warmth of a steaming hot cup of coffee, and watching a well-bred Labrador work out a strong cripple.”
The Central Louisiana Delta Waterfowl Banquet strives to promote duck hunting techniques, conservation and boasts multiple gun raffles, youth areas, silent auctions and a large gun raffle and live auction with trips to Costa Rica, Argentina and beyond.
