Crystal Hoyt’s Chords for the CureIf you like acoustic-style country music and want to support the American Cancer Society while enjoying a great night of entertainment, this event is for you!  Rapides Cancer Center and Cenla Broadcasting are pleased to sponsor “Crystal Hoyt’s Chords for the Cure” on Thursday, October 28th at Convention Hall in downtown Alexandria. This acoustic event will feature Central Louisiana native Crystal Hoyt of the band “Trailer Choir” along with several other special guests.

“We are happy to partner with Cenla Broadcasting to bring this event to Central Louisiana,” said Charla Ducote, Rapides Regional Medical Center’s vice president of marketing and public relations. “Rapides Cancer Center has been providing cancer care for Central Louisiana families for decades. This is our chance to celebrate our patient successes while raising money for a great cause.”  The event will include songs of inspiration and hope as well as a cash bar and silent auction featuring a signed “Trailer Choir” guitar, tour jacket and guitar signed by Toby Keith. Doors open at 6:00pm.  The concert begins at 7:30pm.

Crystal grew up in Rapides Parish and lived here until she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a career in music. She joined the trio Trailer Choir in 2007 and the group was discovered and signed to Toby Keith’s record label, “Show Dog-Universal.” The trio now tours nationally.  “When my mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer in 2009, it was an incredibly confusing and frightening time for our family,” said Crystal Hoyt, who recently attended the American Cancer Society’s Open House at Rapides Cancer Center. “There is so much information to absorb in a short period of time – and it’s difficult to know where to find help and support on a subject you never think you’ll be dealing with.

Crystal Hoyt’s Chords for the Cure“It’s overwhelming when you feel like you don’t know where to turn for help.” Hoyt said. “That’s why we are so appreciative of the support provided by the American Cancer Society – and happy to be part of the great fundraiser.”  Tickets to the show are available for $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.  For more information, visit www.rapidesregional.com.
