Contemporary Artists’ Guild Hosts 35th Annual Bank Show

imgThe Contemporary Artists’ Guild (CAG) will host its 35th Annual Bank Show from February 23rd through March 7th at Capital One Bank, located at 934 Main Street in Alexandria.  An opening reception will take place on Sunday, February 23rd from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, with the awards ceremony set to begin at 2:15pm.

 

Works of art by artists from throughout the Central Louisiana area will be judged  for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards, as well as Honorable Mentions.  Several local businesses and individuals have committed to purchases from the show to support the local artists.  These sponsors will also be recognized at the reception.  A “Viewer’s Choice” award will be voted on by attendees.

 

Clyde Downs will serve a judge for this year’s exhibit.  Mr. Downs is a native of Central Louisiana with a B.A. in Graphic Design from Louisiana College and a MFA from Stephen F. Austin State University.  He has been a professor of art at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches since 1991, where he teaches printmaking and painting.

 

The Contemporary Artists’ Guild is an organization of artists united to promote the artistic endeavors of each individual member, and to foster the growth and development of a cultural atmosphere in the community.  CAG was founded in 1975, and its annual bank show offers exciting new concepts in art each year.
