class_logoCentral Louisiana AIDS Support Services (CLASS) has been awarded a grant from the Elton John AIDS Foundation that will assist in the expansion of its outreach services. In 2012, CLASS was awarded a grant from the Central Louisiana Community Foundation for the purchase of a mobile testing unit.  “This grant will provide funding for the retrofitting of our mobile testing unit that will allow CLASS to offer free on-site STD testing in addition to our current service of offering free on-site HIV testing.” stated Ann Lowrey, CLASS Executive Director.  “These funds will also provide funding for the hiring of additional prevention staff and a teen/young adult coordinator for the CLASS Gay Men’s Wellness Center.”

The Elton John AIDS Foundation is one of the world’s largest grant-makers and has raised more than 300 million dollars for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS since its inception in 1992.  During the current round of grant awards, CLASS was one of only six new organizations in the United States to receive a grant award from the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
