CASA Volunteer Jim DowneyJames “Jim” Downey is from the Fort Bragg area of North Carolina, born to a career military father.  Due to his father’s career, Jim was afforded the opportunity to travel extensively and become fluent in several languages.  Jim graduated from high school in 1958 and then joined the US Air Force, where he served until 1978.  Jim is a Vietnam Veteran, having completed three tours of duty.  After the military, Jim obtained a BA degree from Northwestern State University and MA degree from Webster University.  Jim has had an extensive work history through the years; however, he is now retired and enjoying the outdoors and writing. Jim is currently appointed to his first case, and is happy knowing that he is doing his part to make a difference in the lives of the children he is serving.
