Rapid-fire tap group, Rhythmic Circus, comes to the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, November 2nd at 7:00pm. Rhythmic Circus has quickly risen from an underground percussive-dance phenomenon to an innovative live performance company known for transforming their tap shoes into instruments of rhythm. The Minneapolis Star Tribune put it well when they called the dance troupe “Flat out amazing!” The performance is being presented by the Arts Council of Central Louisiana. Presenting partners are Lansing and Betty Lou Kolb, and the Alexander Fulton will serve as the host hotel.
The company’s repute goes well beyond the sum of the dancers’ talents; themed pieces include costume changes and musical segues highlighting the funky styling of a seven-piece band. The combined and highly integrated talents of the dancers and musicians alike have built a reputation for leaving audiences on their feet and dancing in the aisles!
In Rhythmic Circus’ groundbreaking production, Feet Don’t Fail Me Now!, the company showcases their technical capacity as dancers and explores rhythm through percussive dance as it plays off a wide array of musical genres spanning from Minneapolis funk to salsa. Infusing their unique style of hard-hitting tap, high-spirited humor, and finger-snapping tunes, Rhythmic Circus satisfies their “rhythmic appetite” on everything from sand to folding chairs, and in one number even utilizes the technology of electric drum triggers to change the sound of their taps! This unforgettable show is guaranteed to leave audiences of all ages amazed with its unique “you have to see it to believe it” quality!
Rhythmic Circus will perform at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, November 2nd at 7:00pm. Tickets are $22.00 for adults, $15.00 for Seniors, and $10.00 for students. Special group rates are also available.
