ACDS Drama Presents a Trio of Shows!


ACDS Sleeping Beauty Maleficent webThe Drama students at Alexandria Country Day School have been busy this fall. Under the direction of Laine Berry Miller, there are not one, not two, but three productions in the works!

First, they are preparing a “through the years” wartime radio show that touts the individual contributions of the fifty Veterans who will be attending the school-wide Veterans Day program.


ACDS SLeeping Beauty Aurora Fairies webSecondly, Alexandria Country Day School’s first through fifth grade drama students will present Disney’s Sleeping Beauty on December 6th and 7th at the LSUA MPAC Black Box Theater.  Performances are set for Friday at 7:00pm and Saturday at 11:00am, 3:00pm, and 7:00pm.  “We have so many talented students in the lower grades that I have decided to give them their very own production!”  beams Miller.  Based on the classic 1959 Disney film, this production of Sleeping Beauty features the familiar music and lyrics by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.  Admission is $10.00, and advance purchase is suggested. JTF 2014 webLastly, Tiger Entertainment, Alexandria Country Day School’s premiere drama troupe, is preparing for their January trip to Atlanta for the national Junior Theater Festival.  More than 80 distinguished theater groups from across the country will join Broadway professionals to celebrate outstanding student musical theater productions.   The 14 members of Tiger Entertainment are rehearsing Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods for the competition, and also for performances March 21st & 22nd at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in Alexandria.
