A Whole New Day
Greg Mayo

It seems like almost everyone in the whole world wants to quit their job or retire and become a photographer.  So, what if you are a photographer and it’s time to start getting serious about what you are going to do in retirement?  Such has been my dilemma. My wife and I made our decision, and soon, we will move away so I can pursue my Masters Degree in preparation for a whole new retirement career.  So, this will be my last article in Cenla Focus.

It’s been great fun being a famous writer and I have lots of people to thank.  First, Willie Harp and all the folks at Cenla Focus have been great to me.  The presence they provided played a pivotal role in the success of my portrait business.  If you wonder if advertising in Focus is a good investment, let me just tell you that people I don’t know come up to me and say “Hold your Mayo!”  I call that effective advertising.

I also want to thank all the people who stopped me out in the community and told me they enjoyed my articles and used the information.  It was always nice to know people appreciated my efforts and that I was, in my own small way, making their lives better.

A Whole New DayLast but not least, thanks to all the wonderful people who appreciate the value of fine photography and who chose me to create their special images.  Ultimately, that’s what being a professional photographer is all about.

While going to school the next couple of years, I’ll be around periodically.  I plan to continue doing sessions for my commercial clients and portraits on a limited basis.  The photo you see here is an example of commercial photography (for ads, etc.) which is my specialty, but I’m really including it because I think it’s cool and I always wanted to show it to you.

So with that, I say, “So long Focus readers”.  You can still get in touch at [email protected] or by visiting my website, www.gregmayo.com.  All you have to do is remember my name.  I hope to hear from you now and again.  In the meantime, happy snapping!
