A Cool Night of Jazz
Joshua Zona

The Rapides Symphony kicks off our 2018-19 Season with “A Cool Night of Jazz” concert on Saturday, September 15th at 7:30pm in the Alexandria Riverfront Center.   Not only will the jazz be cool, but we will all appreciate the cool, air-conditioned concert venue.  Of course, we traditionally perform our “Pops on the River” concert outdoors, but because of the early-in-September date, we have found it to be prudent for musicians and audience alike to move it indoors for this year.

Our guest soloist will be LSU professor of jazz piano Willis Delony and his trio.  They will perform well-known jazz standards by Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Dave Brubeck and more, all accompanied by the Rapides Symphony.

The concert is free and open to all in the general seating in the Riverfront Center, but if you would like to have the comfort of table seating, please call the Symphony office at (318) 442-9709.   Tables of 10 for your friends, clients, or co-workers are $350.  Everyone is welcome to bring their own food and drink, but if you don’t want to carry all of that stuff to the concert, food and drink vendors will be on site to meet all of your needs.
