More than thirty of the best teams in the International Barbeque Cooker’s Association (IBCA) traveled from all over the region to participate in last year’s event. So, what’s the draw? No other competition can bring together this level of talent to such a spectacular location—with the Cane River providing a backdrop to the Fleur-de-Lis Stage, the riverbank nestled behind each competitor and historic Front Street lined with shops and restaurants just up the hill and through the oaks and magnolias. With all this, even award-winning BBQ suddenly pales. This event is not only sanctioned by the IBCA, but is designated a Louisiana State Championship event, ensuring the winner of Cookin’ on the Cane gets a chance at the highest level of competition and the bragging rights to match!
