2016_ZooGrass_Logo-webGather your family and friends, pack your picnic basket and get down with your favorite roots music at Alexandria Zoo’s ZOO GRASS. On Saturday, April 9th, the Cat Head Biscuit Boys of Lafayette and Cenla’s own Reverend Charley’s Patent Medicine Show will be playing some great folk, bluegrass, Cajun and country music, sure to make you stomp your feet and clap along.  Guests can walk the Zoo while listening to the music or sit back and enjoy a relaxing evening. With face painting and over a dozen back yard games, there will be plenty for the kids to enjoy.  Play horseshoes, ring toss, ladder ball, and kerplunk to name a few.  Visit with Alexandria Zoo’s mascot Roary the Lion.

The event also highlights a different grasslands species each year.  Stop by the giant anteater interactive conservation station presented by the Zoo Education Department to discover fascinating facts about this amazing creature.  Proceeds from the drink stand will go to giant anteater conservation.

Don’t miss the second annual ZOO GRASS at the Alexandria Zoo on Saturday, April 9th, beginning at 6 pm.  It’s only $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-12 years (ages 3 and under are free).  FOTAZ cards and other zoo passes are not accepted.

No outside beverages allowed. Absolutely no outside alcohol permitted. Beer, wine, soft drinks, water and concession items will be available for sale.  Food vendors include Palm Café and Chick-fil-A.  Feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chair, then sit back and relax at ZOO GRASS!
