Lagniappe Theatre Students Make it Center Stage at Top Theatre SchoolsGetting into a top college these days is difficult enough, but add on trying to get accepted to the top creative and performing arts programs in the nation, you will be faced with quite a daunting task.  The world of the creative and performing arts is highly competitive and, in most cases, subjectively based.  Add to that the fact that truly talented people linger around every corner and in every city and town around the country, reaching that upper echelon of top schools could almost seem like an impossibility for any student.  But two of Cenla’s very own have climbed that intimidating mountain of painstaking auditioning and months of preparation to breathe the rarified air at the top.  Lagniappe Theatre is thrilled to announce that two of its Lagniappe Theatre Conservatory Program students will be attending two of the top musical theatre programs in the country, and words could not accurately express how proud Lagniappe Theatre is of each of them.  The students are Malik Victorian of Pineville and Danielle Wrenn of Alexandria.  Both are graduating seniors at Pineville High School, and both are pursuing majors in Musical Theatre.

Malik will be attending Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and Danielle will be attending the Boston Conservatory in Boston , Massachusetts.    Some of their more notable roles locally include:  Malik as Peter in Peter and the Wolf, as Himself in School House Rock Live!, as Seaweed J. Stubbs in Hairspray, and as Coalhouse Walker in Ragtime.  Danielle has appeared as Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast, as Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray, and as Christine in Phantom of the Opera.

Both of the colleges these two will be attending are prestigious and highly regarded schools, and both have extraordinary reputations in the field of Musical Theatre.  These two students worked tirelessly, honing their abilities and audition packages with us at Lagniappe Theatre, and we are happy to say that the hard work paid off.  Though both of these students are extremely talented, it is not talent alone that carried them to these great accomplishments, but their dedication, love of the art form, and most of all, their inner spirits that have propelled them into the successes that they have earned already and the many successes that will undoubtedly follow in the future.  Lagniappe Theatre Students Make it Center Stage at Top Theatre SchoolsI count them as exemplary people who, even in their share of personal adversity, have shone through the troubling times as beacons of what can be done and what should be done.  These will be two lives that all of us here will want to watch and cherish for years to come, and should be looked on as inspirations of what you can do when you have a dream and you ascend from the ground as hard as you can to touch it.  Congratulations Malik and Danielle, we will all be here for you two on this next step of what should be an incredible journey.  Watching and applauding.
