When Disaster Strikes
Lisa Holt

The latest worldwide natural disasters in the last month or so have only made me re-prioritize what is important to me. And I started thinking, “What if we took our families and went into the cellars when we heard the tornado sirens only to come out when it was over and find that every single piece of material possession that we owned was gone, blown into pieces thousands of miles away?” Everything we had worked our whole life for no longer existed.  What would we be left with? The answer to that is simple, we would be left with the only thing that was important to begin with, our loved ones!

In those circumstances we would have no choice but to re-prioritize what is important in our lives. But, let’s not wait until a natural disaster strikes to take an honest look at our lives and cull out the clutter, shining a light on what matters most at the end of the day. Smile more. Give more. Do more. Do what you love. Laugh, love, shed happy tears and the sad ones, too; for they are a part of living.  Intend great things; don’t just go through the moments of the day, intend for those moments to be great. Forgive, let live, be more tolerant and be grateful! We have so much to be thankful for, recognize and appreciate your life.  Enjoy every minute you can because the next one is not promised to you.  Each moment is a choice…choose wisely as it will form your future!
