Now I already know what some of you are thinking. You’re thinking, now wait just a minute, the title sounds catchy, but do I really need to know how to stay young for a hundred years? Let’s look at the facts:
In 1900, the average lifespan was 49 years. Now there is no question that this was because many people died when they were very young. Everybody’s chances of living a long healthy life were much lower back then. As a matter of fact, the average life span today is 77.6 years and rising! Scientists from the University of Texas reported on the Today show in April of 2006 that by the year 2050 there will be over 800,000 Americans over the age of 100, and many will be living to 150! So yes, this is a topic you and your family need to know about. If we are going to live for 100 years, we need that long life to be a quality long life!
Long life reveals that we will have some major areas of health concern after 50 if we don’t do something to prevent those problems. The biggest problem we have seen come about with the increased lifespan is the increase in musculoskeletal problems. In other words, your mobility function—the ability to move around like we used to. Now, because of the neglect on our structural system, the most common cause of functional disabilities in persons over 50 years of age is spinal disorder. One out of every three people past 50 have neck pain and 85 out of a hundred have back pain. That is about as high a statistic as I would think anyone would want to see to be convinced that we need to do something preventive about this.
So, what can be done? How do you keep from suffering the same issue millions may face now or in the future? The answer is simple, get your spine evaluated for problems before the pain starts. Chiropractic is the most popular, natural way to help spinal problems according to a recent Consumer Reports survey. Chiropractic offers a way to keep your spine moving to help prevent immobility and spinal disorders from getting worse.
At Cenla Chiropractic & Wellness, we want to help you to keep moving. We are investing in our community and working to end hunger as a part of our Miracle Year for Wellness. We are allowing people who have never had their spine evaluated for problems to come in and bring 20 can goods in exchange for a spinal evaluation.
