This year, Mayors Jacques Roy of Alexandria, Clarence Fields of Pineville, and Wayne McCullen of Natchitoches have all proclaimed Thursday, October 21st, as International Credit Union Day.
Each year, International Credit Union Day is celebrated worldwide on the third Thursday of October. Currently, there are over 46,000 credit unions in 92 nations serving 186 million members around the globe, including over 55,000 La Capitol FCU members.
Past and present, credit unions and other cooperatives worldwide have stood strong through tough economic times. This year’s International Credit Union Day theme, “Local. Trusted. Serving you,” focuses on the loyalty and dedication credit unions have to improving their communities and the wellbeing of their members and to providing great member service.
