Louisiana Small Business Development Center Gears Up for Fall EventsHave you been thinking about your future job security? Thinking of starting your own business in this economy? What does it take to become a business owner? Are you cut out for it?  Or are you a business owner struggling to keep from laying off employees, concerned about cash flow, marketing expenses, profits/losses?

Whether you are thinking about starting a new business or currently own a business, these are just a few of the questions we can help you answer.  Since 1983, the Louisiana Small Business Development Center has touched countless lives by helping entrepreneurs realize their dreams of building their businesses and generating jobs in their communities. Here at the LSBDC we offer free, confidential, professional business counseling that assists you with developing strategies to help you be successful. Our services include assistance with writing business plans, assessing financial projections, feasibility studies, marketing assistance and much more.

In addition, our office proudly sponsors numerous training events for new and existing small businesses and entrepreneurs throughout our 10 parish wide service delivery system.  Some of the topics we cover are: Business Survival Strategies; Purpose and Components of a Business Plan;  Business Continuity Planning; Starting and Financing a Small Business, just to name a few.  October will be especially busy with the Department of Homeland Security visiting Alexandria to co-sponsor our training event “Employer Compliance Issues”. And due to such high demand last year, we are bringing back the LA Department of Revenue, the IRS and the Social Administration to present “2010 Tax Updates for Tax Preparers”.  Currently, the Alexandria SBDC in conjunction with a few chambers of commerce, offers “Lunch and Learn”, a series of training opportunities in a casual atmosphere where lunch is provided for members. We also have a Speakers Bureau which allows us to offer guest speakers at no charge to your organization.

If you would like more information on upcoming events and seminars, if your organization would like to reserve a speaker or if you are interested in receiving business counseling, we can be reached at (318) 484-2123. We have two locations to serve you, one in Alexandria and the other on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. Of course, we encourage you to visit our website at www.lsbdc.org where you will find a complete list of state wide functions, can request a counseling appointment, browse our Resource Library and locate any of the 8 centers that may be more convenient for you.
