…a place for artists to work.
We have over 40 artists from the local area who maintain studio space. Painters, sculptors, potters, printmakers and more come together to make and display their art.
…a place for people to see art.
River Oaks features 8 exhibits a year in three separate gallery spaces. Throw in a few group exhibits and those three spaces can feature the work of over 100 artists in a year’s time. Our current exhibit at River Oaks features the paintings of Luz-Maria Lopez. Lopez, born in Honduras, paints vivid portraits of powerful women as icons to honor their strength and influence. Her work is beautiful, come by and take a look. While here you can also view the exhibits of Maria Manemann and Mark Rabalais.
…a place for adults to learn.
Short duration courses consisting of two-hour classes, over a four to eight week period are scheduled as on a regular basis from September through May. River Oaks has a wealth of talented artists who are interested in teaching others. Classes are low pressure, non-graded, and fun. For students needing additional time to work on projects, convenient access to the facility and equipment outside of class time is provided. Our next round of classes will feature three to six week classes in stained glass, ceramics, printmaking, watercolor and drawing, as well as one day workshops in bead-making, watercolor and welding. River Oaks is working hard to be a resource for artists of all skill levels. Call us for a class schedule or come by to visit and see the facilities.
…a place for children to learn.
There are art programs throughout the year at River Oaks, as well as off-site at schools and other community centers. And summer camps at River Oaks have had such a tremendous response that our programs are reaching maximum capacity for enrollment on a regular basis. This summer, Hui Yan Mak, Kate Murphy, Erica Terluin, Bridie Rapson, Karen Robinson, Carole Steele, James Borders, Rhett Fitzgerald and Amanda Roe, Brenda Howell and more will present projects during our Summer Art Studio classes during June and July. Camps run for two week sessions and have an all day option available. Again, call or come by. We have been presenting programs to children for eighteen years, and are confident we measure up as one of the best.
River Oaks is…A place for you!
