Let it Flow

The Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea are both fed by the River Jordan. The Sea of Galilee is teeming with life in the form of various species of birds and fish, some not found anywhere else in the world. The plant life that grows beneath the water is plentiful and vibrantly colored. Everything about the Sea whispers life as it flows by.  In contrast, nothing survives in the Dead Sea. Death and decay can be seen on its banks and the stench of the rotting corpses of animals, fish and fowl permeates the air for miles. How can two bodies of water that are fed by the same source have such contrasting ecosystems?  The reason is, the waters of The Sea of Galilee flow through while the waters of the Dead Sea have no outlet and remain stagnant.

Our lives are much the same. If we feed our minds good thoughts—positive thoughts—shouldn’t our lives reflect a positive existence? Unfortunately, that is not always the case. If we retain all the good that comes to us and never let it pass through to another, even good will become stagnant and dead until all that’s left is the stench of regret and the skeletons of deeds left undone. However, when we pass that goodness on to another, our spirit is constantly refreshed with a new, positive aura, teeming with life. See the best in others. Strive to leave the world better than you found it. Allow the goodness to flow through you and teach others how to let it flow through them. It may start as a trickle but will soon turn into a powerfully flowing stream that can’t be stopped.
