The Rapides Parish School Board, the City of Pineville, and the Louisiana Early Childhood Association will sponsor the 17th Annual Celebration of Children Event at Kees Park in Pineville on Sunday, April 6th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. This event is held every April in conjunction with the governor’s declaration of April as “Month of the Young Child”.

Children ages 3-10 years old and their families are invited to take part in a variety of activities designed especially for them to enjoy together. These activities help boost intellectual and physical development that can translate into better school performance. The activities also strengthen the bond between parent and child. The parents will also be provided with educational materials that suggest activities that can be enjoyed at home and that will help the child with school work. Each activity is led by a teacher or paraprofessional from RPSB who volunteers her time.

This event was recently recognized by the Southern Early Childhood Association as an exemplary event for children and families. The event is free and open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
