woz-webWhat has 100 legs and goes to 26 schools in three Central Louisiana parishes? It is the talented cast of LBM Production’s upcoming musical The Wizard Of Oz! This group of 50 young performers, ages 5 to 21, will transport you to a world where trees talk, monkeys fly, and scarecrows dance. The timeless story by L. Frank Baum has inspired readers and audiences for over a century. This Young Performers Edition features the music and lyrics from the MGM Motion Picture Score by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg.

It is the familiar story of a young girl from Kansas who fulfills her dream of traveling over the rainbow. While there, Dorothy meets colorful characters who must overcome feelings of inferiority by discovering the strength within them as they battle an evil witch in an effort to help one another achieve their dreams. The story serves as a wonderful example of brains, courage, and heart!

LBM Productions, under the direction of Laine Berry Miller, will dazzle you with fantastic sets, colorful costumes designed by assistant director Jan Reich, and thrilling special effects by Rob E. Reich, Kendall From and Derik Richey!

This fantastic production of The Wizard Of Oz runs March 18th through 21st at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in downtown Alexandria. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:00pm and Sunday at 2:00pm. There are School Shows on Monday at 9:30am (sold out) and 12:30pm.

A special Over The Rainbow event will be held on Sunday at 1:00pm before the matinee performance. This magical afternoon includes lunch, a meet and greet with the characters (the Wicked Witch promises to be on her best behavior!), fun activities and photo ops! Girls can wear their Dorothy dress or favorite princess costume, and boys are encouraged to come as their favorite character from The Wizard Of Oz or any delightful children’s movie! Parents must accompany their children, and all must have tickets to the show as well.

Admission to The Wizard Of Oz weekend performances is $11.00 (including tax) for general seating in the mezzanine. Special reserved seating in the front orchestra section is available for an additional $5.00 donation ($16.00 total). Tickets to the “Over the Rainbow” Lunch and Meet & Greet event are $10.00 per person. There are a limited number of seats available for school or other groups at the 12:30pm school show on Monday, March 21st.
