Josh Hyde & The Hitchhikers “The Green Room”

203

JoshGreenRoomThe Green Room is the most vibrant and funkiest soul of Josh Hyde’s five CD’s. Growing funk: New Orleans Hammond B3 organ player John Gros (Papa Grows Funk) plays on three tracks: “Falling”, “The Cost of Loving You”, and “Undone”.  Seven additional new original songs encapsulate the tradition of New Orleans soul and funk, resulting in a perfect fit for music relevant in the 21st century.  That Josh wrote some of his compositions on piano gives an authentic depth and resonance to the songs.

New and veteran Hitchhikers include James Owens on bass, Trey Huffman on keys, Jamey Bell on drums, and previously mentioned New Orleans B3 player John Gros.  Josh Hyde drives each tract with his distinctive guitar chops and vocalizes the spirit with self-penned lyrics that feature crisp licks to capture life, love and the see-saw of human emotions.

Josh’s studio—the Green Room—musically and artfully captures the enlightenment of the process and the tracks.  The final product was mixed by Tony Daigle in Lafayette, who has worked with Dr. John, BB King, and Sonny Landreth.  Though Hyde is the primary songwriter, the band has a say in the process. Josh’s creativity in song writing is evident, but the process is not exclusively his. The Hitchhikers help him take each song to where each song wants and needs to go.

Says Josh, “These are songs are about love, hurt & life’s emotions.” Josh Hyde and the Hitchhikers have performed across Central Louisiana, as well Natchitoches, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.  Papa Grows Funk’s John Gros will be joining Josh Hyde & the Hitchhikers for the CD Release Party at Spirits Food & Friends on Friday, March 22nd.  Be sure to come enjoy the fun!
