Art, Music and The Van Gogh Gala at River Oaks

120

Adobe Photoshop PDFOctober has a full schedule here at River Oaks. The most notable happenings are the Fall ArtWalk and ArtMarket at River Oaks, Opening Receptions and the annual Van Gogh Gala.   Artist Amy Glisan’s show “Resistance” will display her renowned bas relief work in the Bolton Davis Gallery. The Galerie des Amis features “Guess Who’s Coming for Dinner?”–a collaboration of table settings from artists Janet Ahrens, Martha Barton, Conner Burns, Marilyn Wellan, Randy Brodnax, WangLing Chou and their contributing artist friends. “Round the Block” featuring Dennis and Jacqueline Parker in the Stokes-Harris Gallery will round out the exhibitions. The opening reception for all three shows will take place during the ArtWalk/ArtMarket Event scheduled for  Friday, October 16th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.

During ArtWalk, River Oaks’ Fall ArtMarket will for the first time feature live music by artists Peas & Cornbread from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and the Kenny Brown Band from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Also for the first time, River Oaks will have several food vendors from as far away as Lafayette on site to offer a wide variety of choices in food, beverages and desserts.

The Fall Art Market is featuring a wide variety of demos and artists who will be on hand to sell their wares. We are adding artists every day, so River Oaks will definitely be the place to buy art this fall!  As soon as ArtMarket at River Oaks wraps up, we will continue preparations for the annual Van Gogh Gala, which takes place on October 24th from 7:00pm until. Featuring a Day of the Dead theme—complete with Dia de los Muertos costume contest—the gala features the works of star artists, notable members of the community, which have been paired with mentor artists, local and regional artists, that help facilitate amazing masterpieces.

The unique masterpieces will be placed on the bidding block during an exciting live auction, with proceeds supporting River Oaks’ visual art mission in the community. And don’t forget the evening’s silent auctions, featuring works from Our Lady of Prompt Succor students and their fabulous art teacher, Marianne Davis.   There are still a few Van Gogh tickets available at $50.00 each, but we fully expect to sell out, as we do most years, so call today and get yours. Limited reserved tables are also available.  The Van Gogh Gala is an event not be missed!
