The Rapides Symphony will close out its 48th concert season on Saturday, May 9th with music that includes some of the most popular titles in classical music. Internationally recognized pianist Pavel Kasper from Prague, Czech Republic will be featured performing George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The symphony will also perform Capriccio espagnol by Rimsky-Korsakov and the United States premiere of Overture to New Beginnings by contemporary composer Bruce Stark. The concert will close with Maurice Ravel’s Bolero, a hypnotically repetitive piece heard in many movies and television soundtracks.
The performance is Saturday, May 9th at 7:30pm at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in downtown Alexandria. Tickets range from $25.00 to $10.00, and can be purchased online at www.rapidessymphony.org or by calling the Symphony office at (318) 442-9709.
