CLASS Gumbo LogoOn Friday, November 22nd, Central Louisiana AIDS Support Services (CLASS) will host the World CLASS Gumbo Lunch.  People can purchase a delicious lunch that includes a generous helping of famous Chef John Folse’s chicken and sausage gumbo, rice, a Louisiana sweet potato and crackers for $7.00.  Lunches will be available for pick up at the St. James Episcopal Church parish hall, which is located on the corner of Albert and 16th Street.

The proceeds from this lunch will benefit the many programs and services provided by CLASS.  Currently, CLASS provides services and assistance to over 300 people of all ages on a monthly basis. CLASS provides free HIV testing, counseling and referral services, emergency and tenant based rental assistance, assistance with transportation, and access to medication and other basic needs.  Another important program is a food pantry that provides clients with a minimum of 45 pounds per month.  CLASS also provides numerous education and outreach programs to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS issues and it impact on the community.  “All of our services are offered free of charge.”  stated Ann Lowrey, Executive Director of CLASS.  “Providing free services is critical because the majority of our clients are impoverished and live at or below the poverty level.”

Tickets can be purchased at the CLASS office, Tamp & Grind Coffee Shop, Rick Ferguson Flowers, 1921 Jackson Street Coffee Shop, Kitchen Warehouse, Word of Mouth Café, Spirits Food & Friends and Southern Chic.  Lunches will be available for pick up on the 22nd from 10:30am until 1:00pm.   Delivery is available for orders of 10 or more lunches.  For further information, contact CLASS at (318) 442-1010 or visit the CLASS website at www.class-cenla.org.
